The recent recovery of the previously lost Telemann Fantasias for a solo viola da gamba fills a significant gap in Telemann’s extant works and provides an exciting bounty of “new music” for the Baroque music audience. The variety of forms and keys is impressive, and the Fantasias are not only tuneful but also include a considerable amount of chordal writing, fugues, and chromaticism. Not to be missed!
